Tactical Vests

Hey guys and gals:

Can anyone provide me with a company, preferably via internet, that has a selection of tactical CARRIER vests? I already have body armor, but will be starting a plain clothes assignment where we will be wearing tactical carriers. Just to clarify, I am referring to carriers where "POLICE" would be visible, not concealed. I found one on Galls but they have a small selection. Thanks!

I had one made to my own personal specifications by Black Ops Armor Group. Run it all together with a www on one end and a .com on the other.

not sure what your vest company is but Safariland, ABA ad Second Chance all sell outer carriers. I have had a few in the last few years (plain clothes assignment as well wearing the same thing) I had a safariland one ordered through a cop shop and it just didn't fit right. Was using a borrowed second chance one and loved it but of course had to give it back and I recenty purchased one from ABA that is pretty good (got it new off ebay of all places)

You should check with the company that makes your armor to get one that actually fits it properly; I'm sure the brand must have a website.

The other option is indeed to have one custom-made by a tactical gear maker, but this can involve some expense and wait. I recommend a guy named David Bosen who runs a company called Coyote Tactical, and has done some good stuff for me, pretty cheaply and in an excellent timeframe. He is contactable via email, but has an old website which isn't very informative, and some sort of forum site that hasn't really gone anywhere. I think he just spends his time making gear.

You can check "PT Armor" in northern Virginia. They will send you a sheet to trace your body armor pannels and then they make an exact fit for those pannels.

Their vest have MOLLE system on it.

They are on the web, just do a search for their website and you will find it. The carrier runs around 120...depending on style.

From what I've seen, the Tactical Tailor panel carrier is probably the most cost effective one out there. I think they are right around $100, and the newer version has lots of Molle space.
