Hey Guys,

So let me give you a little bit of background before I just post my question... I am a Iraq, Afghan combat vet and I have been familiar and a gun user since I was 6 years old. I have never been arrested or even gotten a ticket for that matter.... I am a resident of Sacramento County which is extremely strict on handing out Consealed weapon permits and you have to have a threat on your life or a job that provides justification. I currently own various weapons but they are all kept in a safe in my home and one is kept loaded outside the safe but has a trigger lock on it, none of my guns have ever been transported illegally because I try to do everything right... I've even considered paying to place myself through POST just to legally be able to carry a weapon. I do know that this is probably one of the worst places to ask my questions but I would like to hear it straight from the people that enforce the law.

With the recent growth in public shootings and violence everywhere in the US I have thought aboutcarrying a unauthorized consealed weapon(NOT TO WORK!!!). I know that if anything happened no matter the outcome I would be punished for breaking the law but I am wondering what would happen if I was caught carrying a consealed weapon without a permit.

Mainly...

1. Would the seized indefinatly?
2. What sort of Jail time would I be facing?
3. What is your opinion on this?

just a reminder... I am not some wannabe Rambo... I am a normal civilian that respects my country and everyone I come across... I just worry about people that have a screw loose upstairs.

#1: This board will never knowingly be used to aid in the commission of an illegal act...period.

#2: For a potential law enforcement applicant to publicly discuss his/her intent (or possible intent) to knowingly commit an illegal act has to be about the most foolish thing I have ever seen posted on this board.

This discussion is closed.

PS - Being POST certified has nothing to do with being authorized to carry a concealed firearm. You still have to be hired on and sworn in!

Just to add one thing: moving to another state where you can get a CCW permit would seem like the more logical step here. I'm sure the response would be that your "family/work/personal/blah/blah/blah situation" do not make moving a viable option, but I'm equally sure whatever keeps you in CA should also be a good motivation for staying out of prison.

Oh, yeah...also more than a little disturbing that of your questions, the one about what sort of jail time you'd be facing is SECOND to the one about whether your weapons would be seized permanently. One word: priorities.
