Hello I am interested in learning about the FDOT MCCO. If anyone could tell me a little about the agency, such as shift hours, benefits, take home patrol cars, etc. I would appreciate it.

The Florida Department of Transportation Motor Carrier Compliance Office is now hiring for law enforcement officer. It is a really good job if you are into commercial vehicle inforcement. They do alot of inspections and work at the weigh stations. They all get take home cars and only work two shifts. 6am-2pm or 2pm-1000pm. They all have weekends off..............since I last checked. Check out there web site. Limited info but has a link to apply

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at their webiste, but it is very limited and trying to contact someone over there is hard as heck. If I graduate in April, when should I apply
FLDOT is a good deal like mentioned in other thread about the duties. As a trucker making the transition to law enforcement I am awaiting for the next physical assesment for non certified applicants. In motor carrier u deal with people that are making a living and pretty much cooperative, but u do get some knuckleheads, right.
DOT officers have told me that in south florida the duties do go past just motor carriers to include four wheeler traffic. DOT does test certified first b4 non certified. Training as I understand is basic in which attend with trooper applicants and then after DOT training.
Hope it helps?:D

Thanks for the reply. I was wandering when did you turn in your application, and do you know about how long the process takes. I plan on graduating in April, so I was trying to figure out when did i need to apply so that I will know if I am hired by the time I graduate. And do you know if basic training takes place at the FHP academy or just a regular community college.

Thanks tpcop! I also turned in my app for the FHP1 I received a letter stating that I will be scheduled for the next PAT and Written test. Any advice you can give me about getting physically prepared for the PAT I would appreciate it.
DOT and FHP do use the same academy. Am not sure if both attend the course together, but i have been told they do.
I put the app in April 2001 and i did miss the physical assessment in August for non certifieds. When u test depends when DOT does testing. First up are certified and then non cert. Troopers and DOT are on same pay scale so are Florida Capitol Police, FWC.
Hope info helps.:bounce:

i know here in south fl the dot guys get details..........most are traffic details where u just sit in your car at a road construction area.......although dillards has a detail for fhp and dot....u pretty much sit around and watch the security cameras with security.....then if someone shoplifts you make the arrest..pretty easy money...hope this helps
