Wasatch County Deputy Dies During Traffic Stop

A Wasatch County Sheriff's deputy died Thursday morning during a traffic stop in Provo Canyon.
The deputy pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Highway 189 and asked the driver for her license and registration. She reached over to get the items and the deputy collapsed.
The woman called 9-1-1 and tried to revive the deputy. A Utah County Sheriff's deputy was driving by, stopped and started CPR before medical crews arrived.
The deputy was pronounced dead on scene. He was a retired UHP trooper now working for the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office. The official cause of death is not known at this time. The name of the deputy has not been released.
