Do you guys/gals carry your badge in one of those special wallets, or do you just clip them on to your belt?

I just got mine, and there is no room for anything else....Would I carry this and a regular wallet?

Stupid stuff but....

When I'm off duty I carry my badge and ID in a separate badge wallet. I keep my DL, credit cards, etc in a regular wallet which I keep in a separate pocket. I know alot of guys who keep their badge, id, and everything else in the same wallet. Well if they ever get robbed, or pick pocketed, or just lose their wallet the crook is going to know they are a cop which is probably not a good thing.

I agree 100% with Bigz,

I keep my credentials in a different wallet and sometimes leave it home unless I am packing, thouugh I do keep my US Gov. ID in my wallet, but tucked in the back.

When I first started on the job I was just like every new guy, badge and all in one pocket; but that goes away quick enough.

You can visit http://www.galls.com/ for badge wallets and such, but do think twice about the combo wallet/neck chain/belt clip thing.

If you are mandated to keep your police ID and badge on you at all times, then keep it in a different wallet from your DL, Cash and such.

I always carried my ID and badge on a neck chain. In the old days I carried everything in one wallet. Then the age old story came out about being robbed and turning your ID with your button and all of your home info and that spore key to your POV. I started wearing the neck chain when I went into plain clothes. Baggy shirt and neck chain....one minute I am joe citizen next I am joe cop. Like any teacher I will provide the lesson which convinced me. While working in the gang unit in chicago, I responded to a shots fired call in the dearborn homes (its a project in chicago). The dispacther gave all of the appropriate info, when we advised we were enroute the dispatcher advised that responding units should use caution because plainclothes units were in the area. The initial paper car arrives and gives out a description of offenders. I eyeballed the offender and put him on the ground. A second later, a district police officer who saw nothing but a gun putting someone on the ground began to direct me to do the same. I announced myself and raised my chain ...he saw my sergeant's star. I dropped my chain and everything was fine. No reaching in my pocket for a wallet and no reaching for something clipped on my belt. That lesson taught me to do the same thing on my off time......I do not look to play cops /robbers on my off time.....but reaching for your neck is not the same as the furtive movement that will get you shot by friendlies .

The badge you get issued has the pin on it I take, keep that for your uniform.

Another wise thing would to go to a police related store and order a separate badge but order a wallet clip this way you don't accidently have your 1st issued badge in your back pocket in a wallet or whatever and break it.

Some guys keep it with the same wallet they alsways have but always good to keep your PD Credentials elsewhere this way you can always avoid conflict if it gets lost and you can always show ur credentials with a nice explanation to a fellow law enforcement officer.
Galls is always good for police stuff.
