Well, I guess I am not the only one from the frozen tundra to sign up on this board. I am the Assistant Police Chief for the Clearbrook Police Department. Pretty much just a name. There are two of us full time and three part time officers. I am almost done with my BS in Criminal Justice at Bemidji State University. I am interested in a career in federal law enforcement and am kicking around the idea of trying to become an officer in the USMC. So many options so little time. Anyway, just thought I would say hello to everyone. I have been following these forums for a while now and they are very helpful. Excellent job and keep up the good work.
Stay safe,
Bjorn

Ah, more tundra dwellers. Are you guys ready for the snowmobile season to start up? I am. Anyway, thanks for the replies.

As one of the Moderators on this Forum, let me give you an 'official' welcome. It's good to have you with us.
You say you've been following the Forums for a while ..... so keep up the good work - and keep posting.
I'm also from Minnesota. Just got hired with the Minnetonka Police Department. It's nice to see some Minnesotans here on the forums.

Congrats Glock22! Minnetonka is a nice place. What is up with this weather? It is going to be around 60 on Wednesday! No snow in sight. I might sell my sled and buy a four wheeler.

Hi!
It's good to hear others from the frozen tundra. Though I'm not from here originally. Where is Clearbrook? (Did I get it right?) I'll be traveling around a bit for my job, so I'm sure I'll learn lots about the geography of our beautiful state.........
Where in the hell are all of you Minnesotans coming from? :)
As a Fed who is a "former transplanted Minnesotan" (stationed for 4 years in St. Paul), I have actually worked cases in all of your respective "necks" of the woods. I miss it. Welcome.
Actually, I'm from VA and transplanted to MN.....
From Northern Va, though I've been to Roanoke a few times, mostly thru it on my way somewhere else. Beautiful country out there :)

I live in Clearbrook. If you can find Bagley on the map I am north of there on Hwy. 92. Or if you know where Bemidji is I am about 40 miles northwest of there. I live in Clearwater County. Clearwater County has Itasca State Park in the southern end. Itasca State Park is where the mighty Mississippi River starts. We are about 250 miles north of the Twin Cities area. Hope this helps in finding where I live. Anyway thanks for the intrest. This board is the best.

You're really out there! I've been up to Bemidji before, and out to Baudette - a good friend of mine lives there. Maybe one of these days I'll be out your way.........
Coincidentally, I moved to MN from NOVA in order to GET AWAY from NOVA (no offense if you're a "local" Northen Virginian, but's a bit too crowded for me, and the traffic was death!). In fact, my wife and I wanted out bad enough that we took a transfer to MN, having never even BEEN to MN. It was nice, but my wife is from Southern VA and she said "take me home (or I'm going anyway!)," so here I am.
I spent a lot of time in Int'l Falls and elsewhere on the border, working with the Border Patrol on cases, and some stints in Brainerd and Bemidji, as well as Duluth. I also spent a lot of time in Willmar, chasing illegal aliens (who same to make up 70% of the population there!).
k
I was raised in NOVA, but wouldn't move back for the world. My parents keep bugging me, but my hubby's from ST. Paul. I also moved here sight unseen and I LOVE it! I had been living in San Diego, working on the border for INS and wanted to get out of CA at any cost.
Actually, I was just in Willmar for work a couple of weeks ago. I had a blast, went to the restaurants because I'd been craving REAL Mexican food (it came pretty close by MN standards) Having worked for INS in MPLS, I knew about the abundance of non-US citizens.....it was hard for me being up there since I no longer work for INS :)

Hello everybody, looks like I'm in the right place.
Yes, yet another Minnesotan on this here board. I work in southcentral MN for the town of St. Peter.
I don't know what you guys are talking about "Tundra". Heck, we don't even have snow on the ground yet!!!!! I remember last year on christmas morning it was like 30 below and snow all over the place!!!!

I'm getting a little miffed about the lack of snow. Last year at this time I was out snowmobiling and this year the fields are still turning green. I am going to have to mow the freakin' lawn pretty soon. What a crock! I want snow!

It sounds like we WILL have a white Christmas around here. The weather fortune tellers say that it is supposed to start snowing sometime during the night and will be like 2.5 inches when its said and done. It has been cold the last few days so that if it does snow, it won't melt as soon as it hits the ground.
I will be working 2100 to 0700 tonight so I will be one of the first to know when the snow starts flying!!!

Hello to all members at 911 JF's! A special hi goes out to all the Minnesota people here =)
I'm from Bloomington originally, but live and work in deep south Texas. I've been down here for 9 years and love it...no cold or snow!
Work has brought me back to MN 12 times over the last 3 years, picking up wanted subjects in custody.

SoTexLawman,
I checked out your depts. site. It looks very warm down there. I am still waiting for the massive amounts of snow like Buffalo, NY had but I will have to make do with what I have now. It must have been a shock to the system when you moved to Texas. I have only been to Houston and that was only to the airport. It was still too hot for me.
Stay Safe,
Bjorn

Bjorn...when I first flew down to south Texas for vacation, it was a cold mid-November day (minus 20 degrees) and when I landed in south Texas, it was 85 degrees! I decided then to stay and work in the sun soaked valley of southern Texas.
We have our drought problems and some believe the only way to reverse the drought conditions is for a Hurricane to come ashore here. That's a scary thought.
Drugs also are of great concern. Being Mexico is across the river at our county's southern border, drug smuggling is an every day occurrence. Any drug bust under 1,000 lbs for marijuana and 5 lbs for cocaine, gets small print in the newspaper.
I looked on my map and located your hometown. I once picked up a wanted subject at one of our county's International bridges. He was wanted for Drug Conspiracy and Escape from your neck of the woods. His name was Mauricio Santana. I transported him to our jail and spoke with the booking officers, the Sergeant and Lieutenant on duty. I advised them that Santana had said he was not going back to prison. That he would do whatever it took to escape custody. I wrote that he was an escape risk in his inmate folder, underlined it, and highlighted it.
Guess what....he escaped after switching identities with another inmate that had made bond. This guy is listed on our website under Most Wanted. I can't remember which department had charges pending or which he escaped from.
I hope you get your snow...right now it's 75 degrees and the Cowboys are playing Detroit. What is the general consensus of Green's termination? The Viking stunk this year!!!!
