Does anyone have any info on this agency:
-Are they hiring?
-Salary?
-Is it a good agency?

I know they hire through the NJ Civil service process. This is a pain in the ass. The test is easy but it's takes a while just to get your scores back, plus you got to wait to be certified.. It is a long process.Very difficult to get into the Sheriff's Dept. in Jersey. I tried for a few years. But it is hard.. But do not give up. I did and I am here in NY.. But just got to wait for them to give the test probably in Jan. 2002. Good Luck!

It's a good department but you always get politicians who run the department. You have to start off in Corrections for your I believe your first 3 years before you can qualify to test for the position of Sheriff's officer within the BCSD.
You can make alot more money in the Corrections part of the BCSD because of the shift work and overttime.
SO's with them work mon-fri mostly nice work hours unless you are in the Bureau, then you are on call.
The money is good! It's Civil Service, unless you are a 15 percenter.
15% meaning that you have a major hook with some real high county politician, state politician or the Sheriff himself. Then you get to skip the CO process and then you quickly become a Sheriff's Officer but the guys in Corrections will get pissed at you since you are passing them over.
Good luck!
