Well I am about 90% done with the hiring process for Contra Costa County. Looking good for the Jan. Academy. Here's what has happened:

1. Written exam. Scored that day and passed. Scheduled oral interview.

2. 10 Minute oral interview. Easy but nerve racking!

3. Essay/spelling/pre-polygraph. I am good at writing and spelling so no biggie here. Prepoly interview was fine. Went over general personal history.

4. Polygraph. I was nervous, never took one before!

5. Written Psych exam. 1000 T/F questions...bad headache!

5.5 Got my conditional offer of employment!!

6. Oral psych. 20 minutes with a shrink. Mostly rehashing old questions.

7. Background. Filling out personal info packet now. Turning it in tomorrow.

8. Physical test. On Sat. the 17th. Run and climb a wall. A little slow on the run but I think I'll do OK.

9. Medical Exam. Should be fine.

10. Final interview...hope to have this done by the end of the month and have the final OK!

Best of luck! A friend of mine from the academy is doing quite a bit of overtime, and she will be approaching $9,000 month. It is probably temporary because they are hurting for people but damn...!

Good luck and keep us posted!

I am one step behind you. My Oral Psych is Monday and I have been scheduled for the 17th PAT also. I know it is at LMC in Antioch, but I need to find out where on the campus to go. Did you get the " What does a dog and lion have in common? " questions? I would really like to see what a persons answers tells about their personality.

What step did you get the background packet? I didn't get it yet.

Do you know who the final interview is with? I wonder if it is with Commander Young or the Sheriff.

I am stationed out at Travis. We are just around the corner from each other. I don't think I will be able to get out of the A.F. for the 7 Jan academy though. It looks like I might have to wait until the next one. I really wanted to attend Co Co's first self ran academy, but as long as I go to an academy, i'll be happy.

Good luck on the rest of the testing, and maybe I will see you at the PAT.

USAF,

Sounds good. Would you like to ride with me on the 17th? I went and ran the track out there and practiced on the 6 ft. wall.

I am about 10 sec. short on the 500 yard run...do you think I would get DQ'd after passing everything else for that? Hoping to work that into a passing score in the next week.

Anyway, I know just where to go on the LMC campus and park.

Yes I got the dog and lion question. I think it shows the guy how you analyze things. For instance thinking back I didn't go right to the "both animals" answer I started with four legs, fur, etc. Specific to general...just the way I am I guess.

If you are going to SR for the oral psych and haven't been there, and are going in the morning, leave extra time. My appt was at 8am and I left Suisun at 6:45 and was 10 minutes late. That 101 S traffic is nasty. I used to work over there at the same exit and live in Novato. 45 minutes to go 6 miles some mornings!

As far as the bg packet...I went in and got it from Captain Sandy he called me the day after my oral psych exam (last Tues) and I returned it to him Thursday. Got fingerprinted and such. Scheduled for a medical exam this thursday...almost there!

EMail me at cdcrowell@yahoo.com to talk details about Saturday.
