drug question?

i was just wondering how much time has to elapse sinse your last drug use? i have never been a regular drug user but i have smoked pot before, the last time i smoked pot was around june of 2001 and i want to apply for the department here in vegas soon, just curious about how much time has to pass before i can even apply?, someone please let me know

You might want to put a little more time in before you apply. As most will say, departments like to see at the very least 3 years since last usage. Be patient. Do some other things to help make you more ideal. Volunteer, education, steady employment, good credit, etc. 5 months clean will not cut it.

I couldn't agree more with more with the above post. however i have to add that some departments that I have seen require at least a 5 year gap between your last drug use. But if you don't have a degree, now would be a good time to get one, as it would add more time since you last used drugs, and any volunteer work is always a plus....Good Luck

I concur with the above. However, I would say to call the department and see what their standards are as far as drug use. I know of large departments that say as long as it's only pot then it must be as low as a year. Like posted above, the norm is 3 years.
