Read this in the Star Trib (minneapolis paper) the other day. Tough deal no matter how it may have happened.

A rookie police officer was found dead in his squad car in St. Louis Park after a resident spotted the car Tuesday night.
Foul play doesn't appear to be involved in the death of Ryan Hoeft, 27, said Police Chief John Luse. Hoeft joined the 51-officer department three months ago after earning his license.
The park where the car was found, in the 9400 block of Cedar Lake Rd., adjoins Cedar Manor Intermediate School. The car was removed before school started Wednesday, but notes were sent home with students, telling parents that an accident had happened near the school and that no foul play is suspected, said Beth Johnson, a school district spokeswoman.
The Hennepin County medical examiner's office hadn't yet ruled on how the officer died.
"It seems pretty clear to us that this will probably not end up being a crime," Luse said.
