I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I've been reading about everyone raving over level 3 holsters. Since I'm hoping to be making the LE transition soon, I'm starting to look into what I would want to wear (if it's not mandated).

I like the look of Uncle Mike's, and I think I would prefer it's methods of retention. But, most I have seen post at another site seem to prefer Safariland. I don't car too much for that side strap/decoy on the SSIII, and the way the web site makes the retention system sound, it take some time getting used to it.

What are your opinions/experiences with either holster? Feel free to PM me if need be.

Thanks much,
Steve

I currently have the SSIII 070. I love this holster! It's the best I have ever had! I would highly recommend it. It did take some getting used to, but I can draw it just as fast as most of the guys who have level 2 holsters. Sure it took some practice, but it has been well worth it.

I'm with chip, I currently have a Uncle Mikes Level II holster (bought it cheap to carry through rookie school) and now that I'm about to graduate in 17 days I'm looking at buying the SSIII 070 holster, I've not heard much about the UM's Level III holsters, but the 070 has saved numerious lives because of people trying to get the guns out of the holster, one officer from the next county over was knocked out and the guys broke two of his ribs trying to get his gun out of his holster, they had both snaps unsnapped and still couldn't get it out of the holster.
