Fox Valley (WI.) Police Academy

If you have the opportunity to attend the Fox Valley Police Academy you will never forget it. What a great place! It's located in Appleton, Wisconsin.:bounce:

Looking forward to attending myself (if GBPD/BCSD hire me). A few people I know have attended (Kthejoker and a coworker), and have said nothing but good about the place. I'd take any of the academies in the state, but I would prefer FVTC.

Anyone else currently attending, or did so in the past?

RAPD, when were you hired by Racine? I've heard there is a quite a bit of action there.

If you are heading out to Wisconsin, It is probably best to hit it around summer time. Wisconsin Dells is a neat place to tour, very pretty scenery. There is always Milwaukee, with many things to do, Lake Michigan (if you fish), Lots of cool little things to do in each city.

Hope that helps a little!

Plus....There is always Green Bay and the Packers

I am living in minnesota but am exploring my opportunities in wisconsin. The only cert school i had heard of was in eau claire (chip tech) but this one sounds like a good one. Just another place to check out - thanks for the info.

RWPD,

I have met most of the instructors and toured the facilities at Chippewa Valley Tech in Eau Claire. It is very, very nice. Lots of good technology for training, and the instructors have unbelieveable resumes (for state narcotics agents, etc., etc.). I have heard rumors that they are trying to get a retired Eau Claire FBI agent to teach there. Don't know if it's true or not.

I have never visited Fox Valley Tech, but from what I've heard everyone else say about them, I'd probably rate Fox Valley first, and Chippewa Valley second for the state. This of course excludes the WI State Patrol Academy, Madison's academy, and possibly Milwaukee's academy.

K9 Police,

I work for the Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept. which is the county just south of Racine and MPPD. I would guess that MPPD sends their recruits to either Waukesha Tech, Fox Valley Tech, or possibly Madison Tech. Our new recruits go to Waukesha or Fox Valley. Hope this helps.

When I went to Fox Valley Tech for the Police Academy there was a Mount Pleasant recruit that went with us.

I haven't heard anything negative about their dept. The experiences I've had working with some of their officers (we share a border on the county line) have all been positive. They seem to be a pretty progressive dept and well equipped. They may be a smaller dept. but with 22000+ residents, and right next to Racine, they seem to keep pretty busy from what I've heard/seen. Their jurisdiction varies from suburban type residential to innercity type neighborhoods and everything in between.

I would recommend Kenosha PD, Racine PD, Pleasant Prairie PD, and Racine SO as other departments to look into. I'll recommend Kenosha SO also, but with some reservations. If you want details, I can PM you. Let's just say morale is low and several deputies are in the process of leaving. If you have any questions on any of these dept's let me know as I either have an idea of what's going on with them, or have friends working for them that I could get the info. for you.

You could really hold off and work for the best department in Wisconsin, The City of Racine Police Department.:p
