DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DEPT OR DOES ANYONE OUT THERE WORK FOR THEM??? JUST CURIOUS HOW THEY WERE TO WORK FOR?

I too applied for this Pd. I know a narcotics detective there, and he loves it. As a patrolman, you patrol North and South Parks, and the airport, and not much else. From what I hear, the real excitement is in investigations, and SWAT. The county's SWAT team rivals even the Pa State Troopers'. The pay is great (52,000 after 4 years) and the pension is something like 50%. I've heard nothing but good things about this department. See ya at the test.

All I know is that at least 50 officers are retiring this year.....probably not that many......

tre8 is right. There investigations division would be excellent to work for. They handle most investigations for the smaller municipal departments. The City of Pittsburgh has even been known to call on them from time to time. I am hoping to get off work to take the test as well. Good luck.

I talked to an officer at the airport the other day. He said they need about 40 new officers now. Did anyone get a response from Human Resources about the test site?

I didn't get my notice yet, but from what I understand, they hold the test somewhere on Pitt's campus

no the test wasnt too hard....how long before we get the results?when is the next class?

I know that when I took the sheriff's exam back in June it took over two months to receive the results. As for when the next academy starts I think that is anybody's guess.

It could be a while, then. I've heard that the county is very political, meaning county police and sheriffs. Good luck.

Thank you. Good luck on your orals with the PSP. Believe me I am not holding my breath either. I was ranked number 37 on the sheriff's exam and even had a city councilman write a letter of recommendation to the sheriff for me and I still did not get hired. The sheriff said he would hire the top 20% on the list, which were around 22. Later I found out that he jumped all over the list. Someone who was ranked around number 10 was not hired, but someone who was ranked around 90 did. I never imagined years ago when I dreamed of a career in LE that it would be this political.

I received the results today. I scored an 85 and my rank is 152. I'm guessing that isn't good enough.
