Well guys I did it! I graduated the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Academy class 2001-2 (class 54) on Wedensday the 21st. I officialy started with my department on Monday and am going through a 2 week department specific mini-academy. FTO will start on the 10th of December.
The last 17 weeks have been incredible! I am sorry that I was unable to keep up with my narrative of the Academy but it was all I could do to stay caught up on my reading and homework assignments.
We graduated 27 (all 27 passed the Colorado POST test on the first try) out of 31 students. Losing one to academics, one to injury (he will return next academy), and 2 due to honor code violations. The graduation was incredible my parents even flew in for it and my dad surprised me with my grandfathers badge and ID from when he retired after 28 years with the Eugene, OR Police Department.
I and the 2 other officers who graduated with me will be officially sworn in on Monday. This has been the most exciting time of my life and I want to thank everyone for their support and answers to questions while I was going through the hiring process and would like to appoligize for not keeping everyone updated on my progress through the Academy.
I am sure I will be posting more in the coming weeks as I go through FTO. We work four 10's so hopefully I can find more time to hit the site on my 3 days off a week. Once again thank you everyone and if you have any questions please ask away.
