I bought "Cold Zero" by Chris Whitcomb, and really enjoyed reading it, and highly suggest it. While I was in school, I joined BOM club!(Book of the Month), and bought some hardbacks, and I am finally able to read them. One of them was " The Narrowback", I forgot the authors name, forgive me. Its about New York Irish guys and the IRA. Quick read, fast paced. One of my favorite authors is Robert Ludlum, and I am currently working on " The Icarus Agenda". Let me know what you are reading, and if you have any suggestions!!!

MAXIM! I suggest the December issue. Jaime Pressly is one of a kind, and there's a good article on "Star-Spangled Badasses".

I read a series of books called DragonLance. I have a little over 100 of them sitting on my bookshelf upstairs. Got hooked on them in High school and haven't been able to stop. My 11 year addiction.

And of course let's not forget the "Dilbert" comic books.

As far as job material I have a few subscriptions to 911 magazines to keep updated on new tehnologies and stories in the field of dispatch.

I try to avoid non-fiction, I get enough of that on CNN.

No Spin Zone by Bill O'Reilly, if you like his news show you will love his book. Other than that college text books which I have not seen one I would reccomend.

In my home office (aka the bathroom) I have a varied selection of FHM's and American V-twin to peruse.

My "real" book of the time is "You have more than you think" by David and Tom Gardner cofounders of The Motley Fool. It's about taking control of personal finances, steps to successful investing and securing your financial future. Great read, and yah...it has helped already.

The Lost Son: A Life in the Pursuit of Justice by Bernard Kerik, the current (soon to be former) NYPD Commissioner. He has had an interesting career path and life, and it is a pretty good book so far. Being away from NY and most of my NYPD connections, I really don't know what kind of Commissioner he has been since he took over in 2000, but he comes across well on paper.

"Flags of Our Father's" by James Bradley. His father was the navy doc who was on the flag rasing group on Iwo Jima. While reading this book, I felt like I was on Iwo with them. Very objective account on the lives of the 5 men who raised the flag, as well as the story's of many others who were there.

Just finished "No Other Option" by Marcus Wynne about a renegade ex-delta operator who escaped from prison and now is on a raping spree! He's chased by another delta, the US Marshals, and a Sex crime female cop. The author was a Federal Air Marshal and did some other covert ops. Very good read.

Also just read "Beyond the Call" by Marshall Frank about a rookie Miami-Dade police officer who gets assigned the most corrupt division on the force and fights to stay alive. Also a great read.

I'll keep you all posted.

Here's an interesting contrast - the last two books I read were "Street Without Joy" by Bernard Fall and "The Dirt" by Motley Crue: one was obviously more enlightening, while the other, was, well..um, also enlightening....in other ways...

Blackhawk Down - Mark Bowden
(About the battle in Somolia, the movie with the same name that is coming out after Christmas is going to be GREAT too!)

Immediate Action - Andy McNab
(About the journey of a soldier into the SAS, the British government tried to ban this book and it is a great read. I don't know how easy it is to get here in the U.S. since I bought it when I was in Scotland.)

That is my current reading.

Take care you all,
James
