Well after getting off at 0100 last night I had to report for briefing at 0500 hours this morning for my very first Drug/felony warrant raid. Everything went well and we served 26 of 30 warrants and siezed an unknown amount of drugs. We were divided up into 30 different teams and covered two counties and several towns. I entered second and was ready to fight our man because we had been told he liked to run and fight. After he saw 5 of us he just put his hands up and turned around to be cuffed. Wish it was that easy all the time.

After I got through, I was talking to onw of the dispatchers and the phone rang. I male identified himself and wanted to speak to an officer so she handed me the phone. It was one of the people that we had been unable to find, wanting to know what we wanted and why we had went to his house at 0600. I told him that I had no idea what was going on and then asked him to tell me where he was so that I could come and get a statement from him about what exactly the officers had done so that I could file a report. I let the state police know, since they were running this, and then drove out to where he was, then arrested him on the felony warrant.

Makes you wonder about some people, why else would a bunch of officers come to your house at 0600 and ask for you if you weren't in trouble???

I almost forgot the most important thing, nobody was hurt.

Sounds like a good day to me. Bad guys locked up, good guys not hurt....and one that got away, stupid enough to call in and give exact location. Sweet justice.

Sounds like some good fun and some fun overtime!

Also, I am guessing this event had some decent coverage in the media?

Stay safe,
James

I have participated in many warrant sweeps and drug raids over the last 22 years, and still find these operations to be a big rush every time. Unless you do this sort of thing every day for months or years on end, you'll probably enjoy them until the day you retire. Law enforcement offers many unique opportunities that most people will never experience firsthand, and raids are undoubtedly at or near the top of the list on the excitement scale.

Nice work, Harold!

I have to agree that I was excited, but was unsure if it was the excitement of the unknown or rookie inexperience (guess those would be the same thing huh?). As far a media coverage that night I found out that there were 31 warrants served and all went well. We don't have a local TV station and the stae police put a statement out in the local newspaper about it the next day.

Stay safe all,

Welcome to the fun. Nothing can compare to the rush of taking the "universal key" and knocking down a door.

Harold,

First of all good job on the raid sounds like it went very well. Second of all it's the excitment of it all. I've been working drugs for awhile and the excitment is there evrytime we go knockin on somebodies door. Just remember that people do get hurt and to take the same precautions time after time. We learned this lesson last Saturday when one of my fellow detectives was shot in the hand by the subject when we made entry. The detective is all right and will be out of action for at least two months and the bad guy is going to prison for the rest of his life (I hope he will at least). But good job and I hope you have many more successfull raids.

Tank,
First of all I want to give you an "e-high five" for thinking on your feet. Way to go.

Unfortunately, I have yet to get to go on any round ups like this.
I imagine it is fun as heck just like everyone has said.

I know our PD did this a while back and mainly narcotics and swat guys broke off into groups going around serving warrants.

Way go to and congrats on your first round up,
Stay Safe,
Jay
