While checking out e-bay, I came upon numerous ads for "plastic" knuckles. These are offerred for sale from various sources, one of which is www.BrassKnuckleCompany.com They supposedly hit just as hard as the real thing, yet are lighter &
being made of plastic, will pass through metal detectors without activating the unit.
One distributor even markets them as the "taliban [sic] special".
Has anyone out there encountered these yet? If so, have you gotten your charges to stick?
The UUW law in IL prohibits "metal knuckles".
Nothing is said about knuckles made of a hard substance.
Work safely & Happy Holidays!

Lawman , can you get a good picture of them to post on the forum?
The link doesn't appear to be working.

These plastic knuckles are under investigation by EBay as potentially violating EBay's Rules and Safety guide. This guide specifically prohibits brass and metal knuckles so I'm sure EBay will see that these "plastic" knuckles are just as deadly if not deadlier and the rule will be modified to include them.
I contacted eBay as a registered member and filed a complaint. An auto response said the items had already been reported and they would get back to me in 36 hours.
If you’re a registered member of eBay and want to make a complaint try this link. - (Click Here) (http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetRNSWebFormShow&flag1=0&flag2=10&flag3=39&rcode=420200371000000&subjecttier1=Questionable+Content+on+eBay&subjecttier2=Prohibited+Items-+Items+not+permitted+for+sale+on+eBay&Query=Weapons+and+Knives) - I don't know if this link will work for you or not, you may have to login first??
Although NE state statue defines brass knuckles as something being made of metal, these would also be classified as a “dangerous weapon” in NE, as per a 1998 Appellate Court case and would be illegal to carry concealed, i.e., "any instrument that consists of finger rings or guards made of a hard substance and that is designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with a fist enclosed in the knuckles" is per se a dangerous weapon. State v. Lewis, 6 Neb. App. 867, 577 N.W.2d 774 (1998).
Here's a pic of what they look like, as I hope they won't be listed on eBay much longer. Some are black in color and others are brass in color.
I know all the Police on the site probably get the Calibre Press Updates that come out about new items onthe street to look for that could be weapons.
Just so you know, and I can't remember the site, maybe I saw it on here, I'm not sure, but there IS a site that sells rings that hold OC spray in them. That is something to think about. I saw the site with my own eyes so I wouldn't pass this along without having seen it.
Stay safe,
Jay
