Once you've said "Second Chance" you've said it all. Period.
They've been around longer than anyone else & have hundreds of documented saves to prove it. Their armor is the MOST comfortable one that you'll ever wear.
Case in point: My PD recently issued us a competitor's brand after switching from Second Chance due to the cost. Mine currently sits in the office. One of our guys who left a few months ago turned in his [PD issued Second Chance] vest which I now wear. (We were about the same size, so this wasn't an issue.)
The competitor's made me feel like I was wearing a board - that's how thick & heavy it was. The Second Chance one is MUCH more comfortable & concealable. As they say in the ads "If they see the armor they shoot for the head."
Yes, Second Chance costs more. But ask yourself this: "How much is my life worth?"

I have to agree that Second Chance makes top notch products. I went from my agency-issued Safariland (felt like a board) to a personally purchased Second Chance Ultima and the difference is UNBELIEVABLE.

While working dignitary protection, it's especially hard to conceal a vest underneath a dress shirt. My SC Ultima makes it possible. It's so comfortable sometimes I forget that it's on.

Yes, it's more expensive. But you can usually find someone (a dealer or vendor) that will cut you an LE break. I mentioned a while back that a company called code4 does a "credit program" where they'll allow the buyer to purchase the vest and pay it off in a 4-6 months.

Second Chance Monarchs are one step down in price, and, from what I've heard, are a good comfortable vest as well.
