Miami-Dade vs. Broward Sheriffs

Anyone with inside info on how these departments are doing? Moral, pay, size and work environment? I know Miami has about 3000 officers, but no clue on BSO. Also, know that Ken Jenne (BSO sheriff) is a good guy. That aside, any help on the departments would help.

Have you ever thought about Hollywood PD. I know a retired Lt. from there. He's always telling me how great it is. They have a huge budget, take home cars, and plenty of narcotics work with lots of seizures.

He also tells be Miami-Dade is a huge agency and is pretty selective about who they hire.

Actually, I have. Hollywood is a really nice place to live. I lived in FL three years ago, and HWood was on the rebound. I do however want to work for a large department. I like having options. I will consider HWood now that you bring it up. Thanks

There is a good chance that Hollywood might be taken over by BSO in the next few years. BSO has a dep chief as HPD's chief.

hollywood is a really good department.....over 300 officers lots of fun working there........they have great benefits and lots of cool toys...........broward sheriff's office has over 1500 deputies and is a very large department...lots of room to move around and advance.......have u thought about ft lauderdale?? they top out at $63,000 at five years........cant beat that anywhere around here........although i hear bso is tring to match it or at least come close.........good luck in your future.

love my job too papi............plantation police just outside ft lauderdale.............bso, hollywood, and ft lauderdale are all great departments in broward..................plantation, davie, and pembroke pines are also great places to work..........i think people who work leo in broward are very fortunate.......we all have great contracts, good pay and have a very high moral............quick note=ft lauderdale tops out at $63,000 after five years
