View Full Version : Camp Doha , Kuwait - Security forces
I recently saw a job announcement hiring for Civilian Security Forces personnel to provide protection for Camp Doha , in Kuwait (U.S. Military Installation). Can anyone who has been stationed there , or knows of it , give details about the base, is it a large base or small , morale , etc. I'm prior military Police and basically know the duties involved , but would like to know if the active duty SF's get along with the civilian SF's. The posistion is for a private company that has a govt. contract. Starting pay is $45,000 year , tax free + $34 a day foreign living exspense. Just would like further input , plus if anyone is interested , I can give you the information , thier are many openings. It states you have to sign a 1 year contract , would be a great addition to a resume.

There is a retired cop I know who worked there for 4 years. He says it was a great gig especially after retiring from 20 years of street LE. The job is more security related than LE but he says its a good gig if your looking to make some good $$$. Ill ask if I can send you his email address or if he can send me some more info.
Do it only if you are totally desperate for the cash. Doha is awful. Did active Army time over there. It is right on the outskirts of Kuwait City (no alcohol, dancing in Kuwait unless you get in with the embassy crowd). I guess you can make it work for you if you are totally resourceful (and very interested in Middle Eastern culture) otherwise I'd look elsewhere. Good luck. That said, it looks like the security offcers had it easy....checking underneath all vehicles coming on post for bombs, and strip searching the foreign workers as they come on post (cleaning staff mostly), and lots of patrol and box duty. Hope this helps.

I did a training rotation in Kuwait and stayed at Camp Doha for a few weeks. Camp Doha is a small US Military installation that serves as a pre-positioning base for military equipment for the region. US Forces rotate in/out of the base on a constant basis.
The Police/Security Guards have limited interation with the military police that rotate in/out (they are normally working for whatever military task force is in the region) but there are a few (2-3 soldier) permanant military police stationed there. Primarily a Provost Marshal and Senior NCO Operations Sergeant. As far as I could tell they all got along fine.
The temps can hit 130's easily in the summer and its cold in the winter.
Most security positions are static posts with a few personnel assigned police patrol duties.
Kuwait City is somewhat "westernized" in that it has fast food resturants, and some of the popular eating establishments seen in the USA, ie., "Chilie's". There is even a Mall nearby for your shopping pleasure.
The Kuwaiti people drive insanely fast and with complete disregard for safety. Avoid city driving if possible.
Watch out for unexploded ordinance! :grenade:
Good Luck
