a rookie who just started fto needs some words of wisdom from some experts. i'm trying to figure out what weapons would be appropriate to carry as a back up and off duty. my duty weapon is a sig p226 that is department issued. naturally one might suggest that i carry the p239 since it basically the same weapon only smaller. the only problem is i'm left handed and the 226 is hard enough to handle. so far the advice i have gotten says that i should stick with the sig since that is what i trained with and you don't want to be switching from different weapons all the time.
not being a huge gun expert, i would just like to hear some more words from the wise. thank you

Walfor, I do think it's a good idea to go with the Sig in your case if you can. I am left handed as well and shoot a Sig 229. What problems are you having?

get a baby GLock. No safety to worry about. easy fire with either hand.

I would suggest a Kahr K9 or K40 nice size and shoots great. Otherwise, I would say go with a Glock 26/27/30/36 and carry a high capacity magazine in it. Either one will fit great in the Uncle Mikes Vest Holster.
