I was wondering if anybody new anything about this Dept. I know that you go straight to patrol, very professional on the phone.
I assume this department is in IL.............
The only reason I say that is b/c I see that's where you are from. It might help your cause to list what state it is in. As a matter of fact, that goes for anyone asking about any department.

I applied there two years ago. The written test was very easy. The physical fitness is the standard IL POWER test. You don't have to pass the physical fitness the day of the test, but you do need to pass before starting the academy. The interview wasn't difficult either. One thing that I foun unusual was that you do not receive any knid of numerical ranking. The sheriff receives an alphabetical list of all eligible candidates and is free to pick anybody he/she wants in any order. I made the list but wasn't hired so that's about all I know.
McHenry is a great county to work for. I know they offer a tuition repayment plan, take home squad, and the choice of 3 academies.
1. PTI- police training institute, champaign illinois
2. Illinois state academy- springfield, not the troopers academy
3. Chicago metro academy
They have a website that not listed here but if you run it in any search engine im sure it will come up.
