Finally Hired!!!

Well guys, I am now formally hired!! Now I get to pack all my belongings and move away. I am very excited...but getting anxious about the training!! I know that I need to absorb all the information but was also wondering what you all found to be the most difficult part of training. Boy, I hope I do well!! Please keep me in your thoughts!:eek:

The hardest part of training for me was training. LOL
I had never dispatched before. So learning the CAD, Alarm board, Policies, procedures, geography, etc.................

4 years later I'm waiting for a supervisor position to open up so I can grab it. Suffice to say I'm comfortable in my knowledge of how things work. :)

Thanks for the Horrahs!! Well, I guess I will just take it all one day at a time. I am pretty excited....so it looks like I am Montana bound!! I will keep you all informed on how things are going.

I am in Mineral county, 60mi. NW of Missoula. Way out in the mountians. When I started 6 yrs ago I had no experience. And yes I was very nervous, there is alot of info to learn. But I love the job and crave to learn more, probably why I became an EMT also. Right now I am trying for Oregon State Police, so may not be here long. (hopefully ! ) Billings is a great place and pay is on the higher side for Mt. I am sure you will do just fine..... remain calm, courteous, and concientious..........you will go far !

Thanks for replying...hey good luck in all that you do! I am sure you will enjoy Oregon....I will really miss the Pacific NW....the country is different here. Its SO green! I love it but I am sure I will be ok in Billings for a while. I was raised there! Thanks for sharing your experience with me and keep me posted on how things go in Oregon!!

Way to GO!!
My standard words of advise are..."Except change." That is the coolest part and most anoying part of this job. You will never have two calls the same. And, just when you get it figured out, someone will change it on you. As far as the hard part, Geography, by far the hardest part. Who has what side of the street, intersection, housing development, or anything else they can think of to split. Be patient, be honest and you will do just fine.
