I am scheduled to attend an academy in Apr. I was wondering how much use a laptop would be in the academy. I want a laptop in the future, but if it will be useful at the academy, I'll get one sooner than I planned.

I remember a post from way back where a female recruit was asked to resign from the academy because her laptop was cracked open during a test. Another good lesson learned on this forum!

Thanks in advance for you replies.

I personally don't think that it will be of much use to you in the academy.

I don't think it will be necessary for you to bring your laptop to the academy. It's good practice for you to take handwritten notes anyways.

I agree with Birky and Copdog,
Leave the laptop at home.

If you ask me, the pecking of keys while an instructor is talking would be distracting.

Taking handwritten notes should surely help.

I know when I was in the academy, we were graded on our notebooks and how professional they were. I would take my notes home at night and type them up and then print them out. I kept the originals, plus the printouts.

For me, that ended up being a good study guide.
