I got the call to day and I am still in shock. She said,"How does
March 11 sound? I said, "Great." Then she said your going to Miami I almost fell on the floor .
We are doing better now I just didn't expect Miami .
I will post time line later.
Way to go. Congratulations!!!!! Tell your wife not to cry, because from what I hear from one of the guys from this board that is headed to Miami....it ain't that bad. Granted you could have a better assignment, and ofcourse, you could always have a worse one. I PM'd you some data on how to get in touch with him, I suggest you reach out ASAP and he'll should address those jitters. I spoke at length with my RAIC today by phone, and he likes to put new guys on the Narc Squad. Plenty of decent G-Rides to go around. And they live by the dress code that one suit is more than enough to get you through a year. Only the RAIC wears coat and tie, and agents only wear same when they go to SAIC office in Tampa or to court. SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats, miami is a great town.
later on,
wess
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! I'm in Miami right now and had a terrific week. Yes, traffic is bad, but the weather is great. The city is a lot of fun and housing is cheap and there's lots of options. Check out the Broward/Dade line of areas like, Weston, Miramar and Pembrook Pines. I was looking at houses this week and (I kid you not) a 3000 sq. ft. 5 bedroom, 5 bath, two car garage, pool for $200,000! Brand spanking new and in a gated community. Coming from a $3000 a month box in Manhattan, I passed out on the spot.
A great city to be in. Take care,
SecretNY

That's great news stonecold. Hope to be right behind you, Fla. bound. Looks like most of the Carolina boys are getting sent further down south.

Congrats stone! I have a good friend who is a Customs agent in Miami. He's on the SRT and absolutely loves the job overall. Miami is a great area for a Customs investigator. Pretty much everything Customs gets involved in from an investigation standpoint is there. Once you do some time there if you want to transfer to another office (or agency for that matter) you'll have some very good experience to take with you. By the way, my friend lives in Miramar. It's a really good area to be in. Congratulations again and best of luck.

Now that the initial shock of going to Miami is starting to pass I'm getting very excited about starting my new career.
Now I will be stressed about trying to sell house, find new house, and more important help wife find a new job. She is a teacher but since we won't be moving to Miami until end of summer it might be hard for her to get a teaching job.
I plan to call the Miami office next week and see if the will give me advice about where to live and see if anyone has any contacts with the school system.
Thanks for all the great comments . SecretNY where was that 5 bedroom $200,000 house . I can't find anything with that great of a deal. All I can find online are about 1400 to 1600 sq homes for 150,000 to 180,000.

Congrat-u-freakin-lations.
Miami would be a lot of fun.
I am at FLETC as of Tuesday if you OR ANYONE ELSE wants to shoot a FEW SMALL Questions to me about it. I don't know really what to expect for intensity due to the 6 day/week schedule.
But, at any rate.
Congratulations.
