View Full Version : Pain In The ...hip .
I'M HOPING SOME OF THE FEMALES MAY BE ABLE TO HELP ME WITH THIS. I WORE MY DUTY BELT THROUGH ALL 29 WEEKS OF THE ACADEMY- NO PROBLEMS- BUT NOW,MY FIRST WEEK ON THE STREET- MY DUTY BELT, HOLSTER SIDE IS KILLING ME. IT'S SO SORE AND I HAVE A BRUISE THE SIZE OF TEXAS! WE WEREN'T ISSUED OUR GUNS UNTIL WE GOT OUT- SO IT MUST BE THE NEW WEIGHT. I'VE GOT A PETITE BUILD- SO THERE'S NOT A LOTTA CUSHION. IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN BUY TO STOP THIS??IT'S KILLING ME! THANX FOR ANY HELP!
First, did they issue a duty belt made for women.
There is definately a difference between men and
women's Sam Brown belts.
Is the bruise under the belt or does the gun grip hit
you in the side when you get in and out of the patrolcar?
One of the lady officers I used to work with said the
velcro duty belt setup was better for her. I will email
her and ask about your problem.
THANX FOR THE REPLY. I ACTUALLY HAVE 2 PROBLEM AREAS- THE BRUISE IS UNDER THE BELT- SORE TO THE BONE . THE OTHER AREA IS WHERE THE BOTTOM OF THE HOLSTER RUBS- THAT AREA IS ALL RED -LIKE SCRAPE MARKS.

I agree that it is the new weight of the weapon that is causing you a problem. Try to see if your department will allow you to buy a holster that extends out further so it doesn't rub on your leg. Maybe you can a place a couple more keepers on either side of the holster to support the weight. Hope this helps!

Some of the female officers I know, (and some of the motor officers also) replace, (on the Safariland SSIII) the connector from the holster to the duty belt, (Shunt?). This new connect causes the holster and gun to be about a half inch to an inch further our from your body, (straight out from your body). It's kind of hard to explain in text, but it seems to help the ladies who need a little space between their hip and their sidearm as well as the motor officers who are wearing leather and need more distance between their gun and their side when drawing.

Hey, Jobay, what station did you end up at? Did you screw down your holster to your duty belt, with those screws that are on top of the holster? If you did, try wearing it unscrewed for a day or so, and see how it is...Or you can look into a holster extender, which attaches, and allowes the holster to ride a bit longer down the leg...

I know of duty gear made just for women. It is Sally Browne, instead of Sam Browne. It is made so that it adjusts to the conturs of the female body. Check it out.
