In the state of SC we have had a very bad month.
On December 29 in Horry County (Myrtle Beach area) Lt. Randy Gerald of the Horry County Sheriffs Office was gunned down while trying to intervene in a Domestic Dispute. The subject Matthew Meekins 19 yoa has been charged in the shooting.
On January 8, Cpl Dyke Coursen and Lcpl Dana Tate of the Beufort County Sheriffs Office were gunned down while intervening in a Domestic Dispute. The subject Tyree Alfonzo Roberts 39 yoa has been charged in the shootings.
On January 19, Pfc Dennis LaPage of the Charleston City PD was shot in a shooting spree that also left a flight medic dead and a nurse wounded. The subject Marko Drayton 19 yoa has been charged. Drayton was upset that his cousin was shot and killed by a ex-police officer. Drayton's cousin of course was attempting an armed robbery at the time of his death. Drayton had already shot at Charleston County Sheriffs Deputies earlier and stated that he wanted to shoot a cop. Drayton was involved in a traffic accident. When the flight medic and the nurse responeded he shot them down and fled the scene. A short while later he passed Pfc LaPage and shot him in the face.
