I can not beleive it, just got the letter to attend the March 02 academy class with the California Highway Patrol. I have waited a long time for this day. Now I have the opportunity to work for an agency that I have admired since I was a little kid watching CHiP's. I want to thank this website and it's members for all the information I have read in the postings. It has been nice to read about cadets currently in an academy class. If anyone needs information on testing for the CHP by all means let me know! Thanks again!

Awsome . . . I wish you luck at the Academy. I took my psych oral 5 weeks ago and am waiting for a response. The interviewer said if I don't hear anything in 4-5 weeks then it means SPB has forwarded my package to the CHP GQ and I am in, but I'm still waiting for the letter. Just like Sardog, I'm interested in knowing when you begun your app process and how long since your last "hoop" (either psych or medical)? I applied June 2000, but I'm in Sacramento and Valley Div is pretty backed-up: it took a year before they started my background.

I started the app. process in Sep 2000 and I am in the background process as we speak.

Cal-Dog and SARDOG,

I started the process in 1/01 and the last thing I have done is of corse the psyc eval and that was in 7/01. I just talked to my background investigator and he says that it typically takes 9 months from when you clear the background until you will get the letter, granted everything else goes smooth. As far as for you Cal-Dog, you are right if you do not hear anything that is a good thing. They will not notify you on your results of the psyc, they just send you a letter about a month in advance of the academy start date letting you know that you got in. You guys are sitting in a good spot because my BI says that for 5 classes after March 02 they will be having 170 cadets per class. Good luck let me know if you need any more info.
