Greetings,

I've been posting questions to some of the forums for a little while now. I'm a Marine officer, 7562--helicopter pilot. I'm interested in a career in federal law enforcement after my EAS in 2004. I'm especially interested in the FBI and DEA, but am keeping my net open for other possibilities.

My background:
BS in Economics, U of Penn
Marine TBS, flight school, etc.
4 years fleet flight experience, including two deployments (still on the second) and "combat" time in Kosovo and Afghanistan.

From what I've seen, there's a lot of experience represented on the message boards. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions and gouge anyone has on law enforcement in general and transitioning from the military in particular.

Thanks.

Where exactly are you looking to go? Do you have any place in mind yet?

I am also a Marine officer (now in the reserves) and I am an 1811 federal agent w/ Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Feel free to contact me to discuss your options and potential future. Maybe my experiences can help....

Phrog is the term referring to the Marine CH-46E Sea Knight Helicopter. Aircrew mormally consists of two pilots, a crewchief and an observer. The CH-46E helicopter has two rotor heads and is powered by two T58-GE-16 turboshaft engines. It's been around since Vietnam. They are due to phased out by the V-22 Ospreys. They are a smaller version of the Army CH-47's Chinooks.

Hey PhrogDriver,
I'm a Hawkeye NFO who's nearing the end of my process with the FBI (passed Phase II interview). I'll be terminal in Dec 03 and hope to start a class at the academy in Jan 04. Anyhow, I've met a few Agents that were former Marine Helo pilots that really like the FBI. With your aviation background/military officer experience you are a great candidate for the FBI as well as most of the other LE agencies. FYI, you can fly with the FBI as well and it's one way to get your foot in the door. They have SAs who fly Cessnas and Bell Jet Rangers to perform surveillance for their missions. Might be an avenue to consider if you still want to fly but also be a Fed LE. Those are the former Helo bubbas I know. Anyhow, PM me sometime and I can give you some advice. Best of luck.
