Finished probation

well guys i haven't been here in a LOOOng time but i am back as promised. I have completed my 6 months of probation with the Atlanta Police Dept. I did have one small accident however, but i still have a job. The new mayor realized that the city is broke so we're all getting screwed, no raises or increments and now they dont want to pay us overtime on holidays. But anyway I can work extra jobs now so thats at least $25/hr. doing basicly nothing at hotels, bars, and stuff like that. If anybody has questions lemme know, I'm having the time of my life at work though!

Care to share what your "small accident" was? Not trying to be nosy, but you did mention it.

WOW your city too? ;) I thought just Detroit was broke!!! How is Atlanta PD? I heard they mostly run 1 man cars. Is that true?? they were talking about that in detroit which is a joke. Does Atlants offer off duty overtime?? I heard in the south they offer that a lot which sound very cool.

two man cars are rare. some days we have to pull a beat because we are that short. And a wagon, hopefully on the weekends. We are short by over a couple hundred officers in the city and everyone seems to make it seem not so bad.
Overtime, the aint gonna give u any except after 171 hours for the month. However we can work extra jobs,,, in uniform for bars, hotels, restuarants stuff like that and most are at least $25 an hour some go up to 50 an hour and some are cash too! So life aint too bad in Atlanta, plenty to keep you busy , we're just broke from our last mayor overspeding the last 8 years.

wow...that is wild. i rarely watch cops and not to long ago i saw then in atlanta and they had pretty much 1 man cars on there. it was kinda of weird. i was down in atlanta a few times last year and i was surprised how nice of a city it was. i heard it was like detroit and all that. but now i know for sure it isnt. i liked buckhead which was really nice. that sounds awesome for the overtime u can get. the only overtime we get up here is if we get into court... can sometimes be rare cause more than half the time the investigators no case our arrest. and plus i hate going to court. i guess up here if you worked overtime in uniform here you probably would get shot or something. and also there isnt much left in detroit to work overtime, there are a few hotels downtown and all that but a lot of abandoned buildings.
