View Full Version : Hello from Michigan
Hello everyone,
My name is Bob, and I am currently a public safety officer with a small department outside of Detroit. I have been there for the past eight years, and am now looking forward to expanding my horizons with the USCS. Another member referred me to this site, and it has been very educational.
I also teach at a basic training academy here in Michigan, and may be able to assist perspective recruits with questions about the academy. Glad to offer any help...
Stay Safe,
Kromp

For Grosse Pointe Park. Like I said, we're small! but I work with a bunch of good guys, and after all, that IS what makes the job. But, the opportuninites for advancement are limited when you work in a small town, and that is why I am trying for the Feds.
How do you like DPD?

Its not to bad. I know there are problems all over even if I do leave. They definitly could use a better retirement and some better benefits. Its not to bad tho. There is definitly a lot of action if you want it.

not to answer for Kromp.... but yes. very exclusive. HUGE homes right on the waterway. A lot of known people live over there.

Heeeeyyyy....just like in that John Cusack movie, "Gross Pointe Blank"! One of my all-time favorite movies, by the way. Seriously, the "Pointes" are very high (as in "exclusive") areas just outside the city limits of Detroit, on the water, is that correct?

GPP is small (2.1sq. Mi.) but we do border D-town on two sides, so we get some spill-over and have some property crimes committed by outsiders. We do have some nice homes in the area, but unfortunately you can't buy one on a public servant's paycheck. As far as Grosse Pointe Blank- yes, you can see a likeness to the real thing- but mostly on the part of the residents. I think they filmed the whole movie in Ca. Only the very first scene is in GP, and that is in GPF...
