I like that new commercial that just came out with the say no to drugs theme. It shows a bunch of kids 15-20 saying things like "I helped blow up a building" or "I helped kill a judge" the message is very simple that drugs are not a victimless crime. Organized crime uses the illegal drug business to finance their operations. I just finished Bernard Keriks book former Commissioner of NYPD. He makes a quick remark about a guy from Afghanistan that they were investigating while he was a detective. Turns out the guy was involved in the herion trade so he could buy weapons for some sort of an ongoing civil war in that country. The book was finished before Sept 11 and now we all know too much about that civil war in a country we never gave a second thought.
