hn23,

I have heard a lot of rumors about the new 280 exam. Alot more people are failing it. If you go to www.thebluesnews.com the is a article about the Austin PD having to retest a good size portion of a class. Something that they are not used to doing.

The head of the academy that I'm currently attending is on the TCLEOSE advisory board and she said that one of the main reasons why people are having problems with the 280 question exam as opposed to the old 200 question one is that instructors aren't changing their curriculum; they're teaching what they taught before the new exam came in to place. This non-changing attitude by many instructors is causing problems for many students who aren't learning the new stuff that they need to learn and know.

When are you going to be taking the TCLEOSE exam, hn23? I'm scheduled to take it in late May, so if you're not taking it for a while then I can give you an update on things after I take it. Otherwise, your search for someone who's taken the 280 question exam continues . . . Best of luck!

You better believe the new 280 question exam is tough. Out of my class of 33 at the Dallas P.D. Academy, only 15 of us passed the first time.

16 of the 18 who failed the first time retook it this week and passed it. One failed and the other didn't receive the paperwork in time to re-take it.

Hn23 pm'd me for about a week and picked my brain as far as what I remembered of the test. He took the test yesterday should have his results by next week.

You have to remember though, there are different variations of the test. One problem I noticed was after we had already gone over a block of instructions, we would be inundated with fresh material and told, "You need to make sure you read this because you are ultimately responsible for all material." We never recieved proper instructions.

I can't speak for those who failed the first time, but those of us who passed made efforts to make sure they understood the material and pass the second time around. One more to go though.

Stay Safe!!!

If your academy is teaching the test, then you may be in trouble...if they are teaching the "concepts" then you'll do fine.

fyi: Ft. Worth PD class 105 took the test in Jan. and only 7 of 35 failed...all passed on the second try. It can be done.:acop:

Class 157 at NCTC COG passed 29 of 29 in the new TCLEOSE test we took last week. The test was challenging but we all passed. We are the 1st class in the state, out of any academy, in which all recruits passed the new test on their first time. All I can say is pay attention to the little things and start studying for TCLEOSE at least 1 month before the exam.

That's exactly right. Don't take the TCLEOSE test lightly. Sure you can take it again if you don't pass the first time, but do you really want to? Best of luck!

Geez, glad I took the old 200? exam.... That was an EASY test IMHO, guess that's why they changed it. I passed it the first time, w/o studying..... But then again I was in an extremely good academy that had very good instructors.

There are some great websites that offer practice tests. Try
www.odessa.edu/dept/criminal
or
www.texaspolicecentral.com

Good luck.
