How are moderators selected?

I think any current moderator could answer a question I have, just because I'm curious.

How are moderators selected to manage/review posts?

Members are nominated for the position of moderator by the current moderators on a “As needed basis”. The original concept on this board was to have 4-Mods for each Forum. 2-Civilian and 2-LE Mod’s in each. The issue is discussed and prospective moderators are voted on by current moderators. (Consideration is giving to any special qualifications a member may have that would serve the needs of a particular Forum) A final selection is then made by a vote of the current moderators. Factors considered: Length of time a person has been a member of the board and the quality of their posts.
