I called the Oak Lawn Telecommunications Center this morning to inquire about telecommunicator positions. The only thing that they would tell me was that they TEST in Oak Lawn, and that it would be in the paper very soon. Ok, does this mean that they have some positions to fill, or is this a matter of routine? Anyone who is interested can test, and if you do well you go further into the process? Hmmmm...anyone? :eek:

Sounds like they are getting ready to hire. I have a few connections with that department and I'll find out as soon as I can what the scoop is. But to answer one of your other questions. Some agencies do test on a regular basis just to keep a fresh list of candidates ready in case they need to hire a new person.

On a side note I'm looking at their website I see that we have the same CAD system as they do, but the set up is a little different. Cool.

I figured the testing meant one of two things...ready to hire or as you said, they just keep a fresh list on hand. It was like pulling teeth to get the woman to even tell me that there will be a notice soon in the paper, it must be a big secret...shhhh. Do you think I was going to ask her to narrow down which paper it might me in?! NOOO. We have a few local papers here, not to mention the Sun-Times and the Trib. So, my fingers will pretty black for the next few weeks! :eek: I appreciate you offering to put your feelers out there, Mr. Jim, but don't call ALL your favors in for me!! Maybe just one or two :bounce: I can't wait to move forward on this :D Again, thanks for all the information and tips that your are providing!!
