Looking to purchase a piece of a matroom

    Gents-

I'm trying to purchase about a 10 foot square area of the kind of matroom they use at FLETC (the blue stuff in the numbered matrooms).

Does anyone know where I can purchase that stuff on-line or if any major sporting good stores carry it? At this point, my worry is that i'll have to buy a large amount when I only want a small portion to train on at home.

    Thanks

I've never been to FLETC, so I can't speak to the exact material, but I can tell you that wrestling and martial arts supply stores generally carry that type of mat. The "jigsaw" mats you can usually buy by the square. If shipping at any of the online retailers is going to raise the price a lot, definitely check out a martial arts supply store in your area.

Check out Macho (they make RedMan). I have a few 4 x 6 folding mats that we use for portable DT training. They have velcro on the edges to combine together for a larger mat. These are not the same as the heavy, almost rubber mats at FLETC, but they do give a little more.

Crown gym mats may be another option, I believe their mats are heavier.

You will be paying $$$ for either one though.

also search wrestling mats on the net sometimes you can get deals on them for closeouts or for reconditioned. Only caution about getting a mat of your own, buy the disinfectant they offer, specialy designed for the mats it will prevent you from getting the ever "fun" ringworm...
