Thread: DC Metro Police Info?

Hi, I'm 23 and finishing up my Master's. I've been applying everywhere for a job, and I'm hoping to eventually get a federal job. I know federal agencies look for law enforcement experience, so I've applied for some bigger local police departments, and just received my testing package for the DC Metro Police. Any thoughts or information(pro and con) concerning the agency? The written and physical tests are scheduled for April 27th. Thanks!

The written test is a piece of cake. The physical ability test isn't bad if you are in shape. Stairs, dummy drag, 6' fence, etc. Joe 159 is the resident expert due to the fact that he is on the force. Search because there have been past posts. This board has a few people that work in the area and you should be able to get plenty of info.

DC police is a good dept. Like any large dept, you have both good and bad things to deal with. If one is geared towards working at a city/municipal level, you can gain great experience working for MPDC. We get alot of folks who come on and do a couple years here then leave to join other city/municipal depts.

If your looking to work(and stay) at the federal level, you may want to consider geting on with agencies like Park Police, Secret Service UD and Capital Police etc... All the 6c positions. Its a very good time to apply with any of those agencies.
