nypd recruit connundrum
Ok, heres the situation:have done everything including my JST,medical, psyche written and oral...still waiting to schedule mini medical before actual hire, but according to my investigator and APD I am still on psyche review..now I have a trip planned to visit overseas from christmas to new years with family....is that gonna be a problem if they call me for my mini medical and I'm not there? Can I make it up when I get back? I dont want to lose my money for the trip just in case they call me for the mini medical..its only going to be 10 days away...any thoughts on how to handle it? Im afraid to ask my investigator cause shes pretty busy and is kinda crabby when I call usually..so what do you think??Fire away

I would recomend that you try and schedule your mini med before you leave. I don't think that would be a problem. However, you may have to get off psyc review before they give you the mini med, idk though. How long have you been on review for?- a girl that I was talking to when I took my JST said she was on review for 2 years before they finally got around to review her documents and clear her! Any way, good luck, i'm hoping to be in jan class also.

2 years??Holy mackeral!!
thats insane!! Ive been on for two months now, when I called applicant information they said thats not unsual...have you gotten all squared away already??Have you schedulws your mini medical yet?I dont think its possible to be on review for two years as your test expires after a year I think...she would have had to retest again..anyway..who the heck knows..I guess thats why there are so many posts on nypd...it seems the left hand doesnt talk to the right hand..or something like that...good luck to you too

Like you, I have done everthing except the mini med. Im going to call next week to try and schedule it. I dont know what this girls situation was so I couldent tell you what really went on, she could be overly exagerating for all I know. But be persistant and try to get off review, call psyc. services to see if they need anything else that you can get them, and try to get some answers from the psychologist you met with-if thats even possible, idk.

Call your investigator and try to schedule your mini-med and drug test. I'm not certain if they'll even schedule the mini-med in the absence of your psych clearing because it is the final step prior to the hiring call. You'll most certainly be put on hold if your psych hasn't cleared. The mini-med continues right up to and including the hiring date and continues even after that date for backfill hires.
In any event, I'd much rather go through a July academy. The gym gets damn cold in the winter. In addition, you'll go to your impact post in January when it's cold rather than July. Something to consider.
The exam is good for at least four years in most instances unless it is extended by the PC.
Good luck.

Do you know what you're on review for? And if they've received and/or reviewed the documents?
That could make a big difference.
Good luck

now its really confusing
thanks for the feedback everyone..now an update: I spoke with psych services today and they told me I was discontinued on my list number of 2095 as of 12/2 and they wouldnt tell me anything else... Now the thing is when I originally was called for initial interview in september my list number was 2095 and then when I reported on that day 9/16, they told me from then on my list number was going to be 4095...I figured ok, and from then on I assumed my list number was 4095...when I called today psych services they said nothing existed for me with list number 4095 and I was discontinued on 12/2 with list number 2095...called my investigator but she didnt come in today...this is weird. or is it?..

List numbers can change after residency and veterans' points are added. Keep following with APD and your BI as to why you were discontinued.

Exactly. I don't think we should focus on the list number that much. About 2 months ago I called them and got a list number 6974, and a few weeks ago I called them again 3 or 4 times and was told 3964. They do change it a lot.

this is getting ridiculous
Im not sure what is going on but I spoke with the NYPD shrink who is doing my psyche evaluation and after sending the papers he requested by regular mail, fax and then once more registered return receipt...HALLELUJAH he verbally confirmed on the 6th of December he had the papers in question in his posession. He then went on to say that if the information requested was sufficient then I would not here from him(I never did hear from anyone regarding my psyche papers being missing in the first place). The only one who said anything was APD where they keep telling me that I have an"x" in the psyche box....whcih is supposed to mean incomplete.....you would think that someone who has been as persistant as I have been with all the follow up would be closer to the end...but according to the "nice" lady(and I use that term liberally) at the psyche office I will hear from APD when and if my paperwork clears, and if I dont hear anything I should expect to recieve a letter of disqualification on psychological grounds in 6 TO 18 MONTHS FROM NOW!!...I dont know about anyone else..but are they kidding??Thats an awful long time to wait for a job that pays basically minimum wage to put your life on the line for....I dont know bout you guys...but I am having second thoughts about the NYPD right now...anyone else have a similar story or am I the only crazy one around here??

Good luck to all those trying to get into the NYPD. As far as time tables go for processing you have heard a million times on this site that it is different every time. For me I took exam 3047 in June of 04 and got hired in Jan 05.. that is six months.. worked out perfect.. i have heard others have been longer. Starting in Jan is good because you get out in the summer and only have to stand on a foot post for a little bit of the cold weather (if your lucky)... similar to what i am going through. haha
Just make sure you save money and have all your paper work done right and continue to stay in touch with your investigator. You could be pulled from the academy because of something that was missed during your BI. Prob doesnt happen much but it has happened....again good luck!
