San Diego County Sheriff's Department
Is anyone in the process with the SDSO office right now? If so have you had your lieutenants interview and did they recommend you for Courts or Patrol? I recently had mine and he recommended me for patrol. Does that necessarily mean I will hit the academy for patrol if I pass the psyc and medical exams?
Thanks!Last edited by MiCeleb; 06-16-2011 at 14:07. Reason: spelling

San Diego County Sheriff's Department
I'm in backgrounds, and have been for a few months. Passed PAT, but still waiting to take CVSA, and interview. I'm basically still waiting to hear about the next step from my background det. He seems new at being a background det., so I have no idea when I'll hear from him...... any insight?
Best of luck to you 'MiCeleb.'

I am also in the background for SDSO. I also got recommended for patrol. Had my psych a couple days ago and have my medical coming up on Monday. How long did it take for you to get the phone call after completing the psych and med MiCeleb? I'm hoping they let me know by the end of next week cause I am scheduled for the written test for san bernardino county on Monday the 18th. Don't want to make the drive if I don't have to.
SD22 hang in there. Hope you hear from the background investigator soon. Give him a call and see if there is anything that he might need. I called my BI a couple times during my background to see if he needed anything. See what references have not turned in their stuff yet. Might speed things up a bit.

Just spoke to my BI. He basically told me that when they were pushing for people to complete hiring processes, that I still had stuff missing from my file. BS. I called every one of my jobs/supervisors/references/landlords to help expedite. Everything was sent in to the admin office within a week.
Today he said that he had my complete file 'but that everything was slowing down because they were gearing up for guys to start the Aug academy.' - Guess that class doesn't include me.
I've been waiting for 2 months to do a CVSA, Interview, Psych, Med. At this point...... who knows if it will ever happen. My BI seems new, but that doesn't change anything.
Good luck to you guys who made it through. God does everything for a reason, I just can't wrap my mind around this one.........

You will make it. Just pray there isnt anything stopping your background from going through. Get prepared for the medical test. The cardio stress test is tougher than it looks. 4.5 miles an hour on a 16% slope will get your heart rate up and if you go over your maximal predicted heart rate (220bpm - age) then you fail. Good luck SD22!

Yep I was at the orientation. I ended up getting the detentions spot even though I was conditionally job offered LE. Psych recommended me for corrections and not LE. Really want to know the reason why but, hey, it's better than nothing. Good luck in the academy MiCeleb! I know yours is two months longer than mine. Glad I only have to go through hell for four months rather than six. But kind of sucks that I will have to go through the whole six months once I decide to try and transfer over to LE or get hired on somewhere else. Would like to stay with SD Sheriffs though.
That treadmill test was tougher than I thought. I watched some videos on it and was wondering why the guy in the video was getting so out of breath. Haha Now I know why.
