    CBP Agriculture/Immigration duties

After reading posts on how CBPO's do a combination of Imm and customs work, since CBP Ags do only agriculture related inspections, do they not do immigration duties and only customs-related duties as it pertains to ag products and conveyances?

    what I have seen.

I am not famlier with all of cbp on this but I can say with confidence that ag officers do not do immigration work. However they rove the floor like a pert member does except they look for ag items at our port. They do not do customs work. They can issue fines for ag penalties for failing to declare. Hope this helps.

CBP aggies do NOT do not immigration work, as close as they get to doing customs work is helping us out on the docks with certain inspections.

CBP aggies are usually out on the floor with the beagle searching for PQ violators or anyone that may have food. They do not do any immigration work nor do they do customs work. Kind of odd because we are all cbp now. Customs officers are doing ins work for the first time in their lives and Aggies have not been involved in that training process.............................

In our port it's the same, the aggies do aggie work. Customs has started doing immigration and ag duties. Our immigration folks are getting ready to start Customs familarization training

    One face at the border?

I think it should read "one Immigration face at the border."

Our muster today reflected on how there would be a "unified primary" and customs "primary" would be phased out. It's all about passports and docs. These are important issues, but the job has drastically changed. I feel deflated from all of it.

Also, back to the subject, how come I can't bid to go to Ag? Not that I really want to, but how come? I know they don't carry either so that's a whole other issue...one day this will all make sense(?)

They are a different series than the CBP Officers. CBP Officers are 1895 and AG is 401 I believe. So the only way to get an AG job is to apply.
