    Federalize and Contracted Airports

    Dmclark and everyone else,

As you know, November 18th was the required deadline for all airports to be federalized. However, Congress has set aside 5 airports as a pilot program to see whether private companies can do a better job that the US Government.

I have spoken to several TSA guys on the Mobile Screener Force and they told me that the pilot program is destine to fail and this is their reasons. Many of the incumbent screener union want the private company to fail because the incumbent screeners were screwed. Secondly, poor management. At the federalize airports, airlines don't influence management decision making. Thirdly, at several contracted airports, including mines, they are not meeting federal mandates and guidelines in which they are suppose to adhere to. This is what the people on the MSF told us. All the private contract screener still go through the same TSA assessment, OJT, and certification. So we suspect if the company does fail, all they have to do is convert us.

What are all your opinions about this?

from reading your post I assume your afraid you will lose your job ,if the company in general screws up Right ?
    - my opinion is, if this failure does occur , you will be put through a quick Refresher course and just converted and overseen by TSA staff. i bet there is something like a 2yr review point to look at the Private Pilot. until that point, every little mistake out of your airport will hit the Headlines.. this is just an educated guess on my part. i would not worry about it.there is too much else to think about when doing Our job.

    BTW
they are not meeting federal mandates and guidelines in which they are suppose to adhere to. -

what specifically are you speaking of ? you can PM if you want.
