Thread: marshals vs....?

I have been reading the forums for some hours now and am not finding answers to my questions. I am looking at becoming a deputy marshal. I have only spoken to a few people about the marshals office but they say that it is more or less family friendly, and that after your initial 3 yrs you can put in for the post that you want and wait on a list. They told me that they don't move you as much as the other agencies. Does anyone know if this is true? Maybe i can get some pros and cons of the USMS vs the other agencies.

You will have to specify which "other agencies" you're considering, because to compare the USMS to that many agencies is very vague and it's not really possible to provide a concise answer. Moreover, the USMS as an agency has been discussed here ad nauseum, so I'm sure a search will reveal what current and former deputies think of the job.
