Meeting with an Investigator
When meeting with an Investigator to discuss your Background investigation what is the proper way to dress? Should you wear a suit?

Others probably do, but without knowing the agency, it's hard for the rest of us to answer your question. Just something to keep in mind here and in other threads. It's more along the lines of "board etiquette," though not really a big deal.

My thoughts...
If it is for a PD or similar, then more than likley they will start the BI after speaking with you. If you are going to the FBI, DEA, etc, I think they start without you really knowing. I could be wrong.
I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work.

Usually they start the BI by getting your credit records criminal records etc. I met the investigator to initially to go over my SF-86. We discussed all the line items in detail and she wrote a synopsis of everything. This was all before they began doing interviews of employers and referances. I had the persons phone number and contacted them periodically to inform them of my references availability. This was for a Top Secret Clearance for the DEA. I had a lower clearance a few years earlier and the process was almost identical. I believe for Top Secret stuff the do further looking into bank accounts, some medical things etc.
