I work with a few foreign nationals from "less then friendly countries" and one of them was interviewed as part of my employment check during my BI. I had no issue come up as a result. I would imagine they look at the overall picture. Are you traveling to these "less then friendly countries", are all your social references forein nationals, combined with the questions about foreign travel and associates asked during your poly. Bottom line, unless you have something to wory about, then dont sweat it.

I wouldn't even think it would be worthy of listing on your BI forms (SF-86). The main question regarding foreign nationals asks something along the lines, I believe, regarding "your contact with a foreign government, its representatives or its establishments (embassies and consulates) whether inside or outside the U.S."
This, in my interpretation, would not include acquaintances or even friends that happen to be foreign nationals. The only other question close to this is that regarding your close relatives or associates (associate meaning a spouse/girlfriend-type relationship) who are foreign nationals. Therefore, if you're not married, related to, or dating one of these people, I still see no reason to mention them.
Hope this helps.

Depends on level of clearance.
But it should not be a problem. Colleges are full of FNs, so it is not out of the norm to come in contact with them.
