    TSP help..

I separated from the G one year ago in April. I kept my TSP savings in tact because I was going to try and get back to G with another agency. Well, today I was offered a position but won't start until end of summer most likely. I have heard people say that you have to either withdraw (or roll overinto IRA) your TSP OR get hired by the G again WITHIN ONE YEAR of separation. Does anybody have any info on whether this is correct? I want to keep my 30K in the G and keep contributing but it doesn't look like I'll be reinstated until the end of the summer. Any help?

You have enough funds in your TSP to keep it. I have been separated (retired) over five years and have done very well with my TSP. Only bad part is that when separated, you cannot contrbute to it, only do interfund transfers or roll over IRAs and the like into it. The yields are good enough that it is not worth rolling over the balance to another retirement investment.

Best place for info is http://www.tsp.gov
