USCP - Question?
Hi:
Is there anyone on the board who is or was with the USCP? I'm interested in the job satisfaction and morale or people presently.
My understanding is that they are hiring large numbers.
Best regards,
Rob

I have a few friends that are USCP officers. In a quick summary I will try and explain what their job is. Primary function is security for the Capitol and its members. Majority of fixed post positions (check ID's, magnetic check points, things like that). A phrase often told to the USCP by congress members and their staff: "You Know Who I Am". There are special units that you can get into after a few years. BY far it will NOT be high speed chases and multiple lock-ups a night, you have to apply to get into the patrol division. There are some older guys that have worked the same door for over 20 years.
They just got a new Chief (former A/C for MPDC) and he is trying to increase morale and retention. Right now the pay is very good.
Hope this helps....

Hi:
Thanks for your reply. I like the idea that there are other opportunities. However, I in no way envision myself standing guard at a post for twenty years.
