Thumbs up USSS vs. Capital Police

    Hey ladies and gents....................

Is there anyone out there that can tell me the difference in test administered by the USSS and the US Capital Police?

I recently took the test for USCP and passsed. I also heard from someone at the testing that the test given by the USSS was the same one we had just completed.

If they are the same test, is it possible for the USSS to use those scores?

Also, if you have any pros or cons for working for each of these two agencies, I would greatly appreciate the info.

By the way, I'm interested in the Uniformed Division - USSS.

    Thanks

rookie - here is a summary:
1.- The difference bet. USSS-UD and USCP test is USSS-UD has an additional item. You'll need to write a report
2.- UD will not use CP scores - you must take their POST test
3.- Both are great agencies and have similar duties. The real question is - What are you looking for ? - If it is a lot of action, you should look others alternatives.
    Hope this helps

    Thanks Vinny for the info.........

Actually, I'm looking for alittle of both. &

I'm scheduled to go down to Baltimore at the end of January for their 4 day recruitment process. I like action, but I also like coming safe at night.

Did you go through either process and if so what did you think of them?

    Hey Rookie...
I'm scheduled for the USCP test in a couple weeks. Can you give me an idea of how the test is? Is it like real basics or a little more then basics. What was your feel of the exam? Thanks for whatever info you can share...

let me put it this way....."if you can read, write, add and subtract" you will have NO problem. It's a complete joke. They have three sections and nothing like a memory video test. I can give the test to my 13 year old cousin and he'd probably pass it. Good luck!

When I took their test back in '01, they said "if you graduated High School, you should do well on this test." That is the God's honest truth. I have a 4 year degree, and I can attest to the fact that if you have education beyond High School, the test is almost too easy. Don't worry about it. Take your time, and make sure you don't just breeze through it thinking you got everything right. Double check your answers just to be sure you actually answered the question you intended to. I think part of my problem with the reading comprehension sections was that I did it too fast and was too confident that I got everything right. Consequently, I didn't review my answers and missed a couple easy ones.

Like others have said....reading, writing, and addition. That's all there is too it. It's just a standard educational assesment. The "hard" parts come later. They're not looking for PHD's, because those people would be bored with the job...they want people of relative education that are reliable and dedicated.

    Good luck.

The UD test was the easiest test I think I have ever taken for employment with any government agency. With that being said, there was those that had a four year degree that barely passed it, so take it for what its worth.

    Thanks DaleHeinz and Rookienj2.

I was just trying to get a feel for what to expect. Thanks for your input. I'm not worried I think that my college education has definitely made me sufficient in the basics. Well we will see what happens i have the exam on monday :0) at FLETC.
