Deputy suspended for taking sex photos
BEMIDJI, MINN. -- An off-duty sheriff's deputy who used a cell phone to make audiovisual recordings of three men having sex with an 18-year-old woman at a party will be suspended for two weeks without pay and reassigned, an official said.
An investigation of the Sept. 19 incident found that Beltrami County deputy Jeffrey Andersen engaged in "conduct unbecoming an officer," Sheriff Keith Winger said Tuesday.
Three men, then Bemidji State seniors, were charged with felony criminal sexual conduct after the woman told police that they gang-raped her. She said one of them gave her a drink that rendered her semiconscious.
Andersen, 25, was suspended with pay after he admitted using a cell phone to record the incident.
A special prosecutor dismissed the rape charges in December, saying that there wasn't evidence of a date-rape drug and that new information made the allegations "significantly" less provable.
The same prosecutor declined to bring charges against Andersen, saying his conduct couldn't be proven criminal.
Andersen will be required to complete a "fitness for duty exam" and will be reassigned to prisoner transport and court security. You may know where you are and what you're doing, God may know where you are and what you're doing, but if the dispatcher doesn't know where you are and what you're doing; you better have a good relationship with God.

Again, this being a matter of opinion it's probably a moot point, however the individuals (the officer’s chain of command) who had ALL of the information available to them decided that suspension was the better road to take with this incident. Must have been a reason for that.
All I'm saying is before making a rush to judgment based on the information some journalist decided to include think about the big picture, there is always one out there.
Chaser, have you ever heard of someone being charged with a crime that didn't actually occur? It happens from time to time. Sounds like that may be what happened with this.
Who knows, maybe the guys planned the whole thing out, got the untraceable drugs from the cop and were planning on posting the video on the internet to make some tuition money. I don't know, I wasn't there. I'm just trying to play devils advocate.
Cheers, FF
