Thread: North Texas Regional Police Academy

Has anyone been through this particular academy and if so can they tell me what I can expect style wise. I know it is M-F go home every night, but is it more paramilitary style, college classroom style, or a mix?

If everything continues as planned I should start the academy Feb 8th.

Are you talking about the COG academy in Arlington? If so, I've heard it isn't very paramilitary, or an in your face kind of an academy. The PD I used to work for sent people through COG and Dallas Sheriff's Office, and the Dallas academy was always considered much harder physically and more of a paramilitary type academy. The people that graduated from DSO always poked fun at the COG people because they had it so much easier. That's all I know, and it's all third hand because I didn't go to either of them.......

Yes, I am talking about COG in Arlington. Thanks for the info. I am scheduled to start Feb 6th assuming all goes well with my psych,poly, and medical.
