Thread: Marijuana & NYPD background standards

Does anyone have an idea of NYPD's general standards are when it comes to past marijuana use in your background? Thanks.

I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY HOW FAR BACK THEY GO, BUT IT'S PROABLY 1-3 YEARS AT LEAST. I KNOW THAT THEY TAKE A HAIR FOLICLE SAMPLE FOR THE DRUG TEST.

Just curious, what can they learn from the hair sample, I've heard only in passing that they can detect stuff in it but never really understood the whole idea.

Hair samples give a fairly accurate portrayal of drug usage; both how long ago and how much. The NYPD is using this method more than it used to in recruit screening because it is so accurate even though it is much more expensive than the traditional Dole urinalysis.

6 monthes...but they ask about any previous usage....i was honest....and still hired...just dont lie...and quit now if u didnt already....
